어글리트루스 -리뷰
하늘도 참 무심하시다가 아니라 리뷰도 참 무심하지... 본디 여자친구와 함께 가기로 했지만 여자친구가 갑자기 급한 일이 생겨서 못가게 되었는데 커플석이라니.... 워낙 혼자 영화보는 걸 좋아하는 나도 안 앉는 커플석을 주시다니.. 뭐 이쯤에서 좌석에 대한 레뷰는 그만 하도록 하고 본론으로 들어가보도록 하겠습니다!
포스터, 예고편에서부터 '뭔가' 강할 것이라고 생각이 들었습니다. 거기에 19금이라니! 시작 전부터 뭔가 엄청나게 기대를 하게 만드는 영화였습니다. 로맨틱 코미디 라는 장르를 등에 업고 상영을 시작한 어글리 트루스는 어땠을까요?
결론부터 말하자면 '최고였습니다!' 영화를 보는 내내 팡! 팡! 터지는 웃음보는 기름칠을 하듯 영화를 유연하게 진행해주는 윤활유가 되었습니다. 거기에 거침없는 남자 주인공의 발언들은 Wow! 보다는 Olleh! 를 외치게 만드는 말들이었죠.
성에 대한 거침없는 발언들과 행동들은 우리 내면에 숨겨져 있고 감춰놨었던 그런 말들을 속시원하게 긁어줬습니다. 일명 말하는 '남자는 그렇다' '여자는 어떻다' 따위 말들을 한번에 정리해주는 일명 폭탄발언들은 민망하다기 보다는 시원했습니다.
성공한 커리어 우먼인 여자 주인공은 백마탄 왕자님 즉 환상적인 이상형을 기대하고 있고 자신의 모든 것을 감춰왔습니다. 성에 대한 본능 말이죠. 일명 '혼자서 위로하는' 일도 안한다는 여자주인공에게 '진동 속옷'을 줘서 오르가즘을 선물하는 남자 주인공은 아마 여자 주인공 내면에 감춰진 본능을 꺼내줬을지도 모르겠군요.
그렇다면 우리의 백마탄 왕자님은 여자 주인공이 만났을까요? 예 만났습니다! 아주 우연히도 정말 영화에서 나오는 우연으로 만났습니다. 바로 앞집에 이사온 멋쟁이 의사 선생님이시죠. 여자주인공이 꿈꾸던 모든 '게이틱' 한 조건들을 만족시키는 그런 조건들을 모두 가지고 있는 이 의사 선생님은 처음에는 여자주인공에게 콩알 만큼도 관심이 없었습니다. 하지만 우리의 연애코치 어글리 트루스의 남자주인공은 ' 남자는 다 똑같다, 남자는 짐승이다!' 라는 철학으로 여자주인공이 이 의사를 꼬실 수 있도록 도와줍니다.
결과는? 대.성.공. 여자주인공은 이 이상형과 사귀게 됩니다. 그러나 이상하게도 이 남자주인공이 여자주인공을 바라보는 눈빛이 달라졌습니다. 처음의 여주인공을 바라보는 표정이 -_- 이것이었다면 지금은 ♥_♥ 이죠.
여기서부터 이 영화가 왜! 코미디가 아니고 로맨틱 코미디인지 나오게 됩니다. 항상 그렇듯이 남자주인공과 여자주인공은 연결이 되야지 정상이죠. 이 영화 역시 그러한 관념을 깨지 않습니다. 다만 둘이 연결되는 방법이 약간 다를 뿐이죠.
둘은 티비 방송이 나가고 있는 열기구 안에서 싸우다가 서로 사랑을 확인하는 키스를 하게 됩니다. Bravo! 해피엔딩! 이죠.
하지만 이때 사랑을 확인하는 키스 보다 관객의 눈을 더욱 끌게 하는 건 바로 배경입니다. 아름다운 산과 강이 펼쳐있는 그 곳에서 조용히 떠있는 형형색색 열기구들은 이 영화에서 최고라고 할 수 있습니다. 이 장면만 보여주는 신이 나오는데 관객들 모두 '와아~'. 눈이 즐거웠죠.
자. 그러면 이 영화가 완벽하냐구요? 당연히 그건 아닙니다. 이제 쓴소리를 할 차례입니다. 뭐 다른건 다 좋습니다. 하지만 엔딩이 약해요. 뭔가 좀 재밌게 끝나거나 의미있게 끝나면 좋았을 테인데 너무 급하게 마무리하는 듯한 느낌이 들게 합니다.
그래서 추천하지 않는건 아닙니다. 꼭 보세요. 여자친구 남자친구 손 꼭 잡고! 재밌습니다!
